Newspaper articles from
the past
a selection of local press cuttings from the archives that refer
to the village over three centuries
Just as
today, newspapers in the past conveyed a somewhat narrow view of everyday village
life, as they predominantly contain reports of court cases, public events and
meetings, the social life of the more wealthy, injuries and deaths, sporting
activities, property sales, etc.
Nevertheless, they still tell us a good deal about the past life of the
village. More press cuttings are also included in...
Property sales from the past, Tragedies in the
past and Top
articles from the 20th century
